About IP, Operations, and IP Operations
IP stands for intellectual property. Patents, trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets are types of intellectual property, and generally involve the ability to limit others’ use of technology (patents and trade secrets), a company or product name (trademarks), and creative works such as writings and software (copyrights and sometimes trade secrets). Intellectual property is frequently the single most important type of asset that innovation companies and franchisers rely on to grow and protect their business - for example, helping them differentiate themselves from competitors and used to generate vital licensing revenue.
The process of securing intellectual property rights can be complex, and operations involve the systems, equipment, people, and processes needed to make the organization function. IP operations involve those systems, equipment, people, and processes required to secure and protect an organization’s intellectual property.
